Post-Traumatic Stress<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Post-Traumatic Stress or P.T.S. is an injury in which a person has difficulty recovering after experiencing or witnessing a terrifying event.<\/p>\n

The condition may last months or years, with triggers that can bring back memories of the trauma accompanied by intense emotional and physical reactions.<\/p>\n

Symptoms may include nightmares or unwanted memories of the trauma, as well as avoidance of situations that bring back memories of the trauma.<\/p>\n

Treatment includes different types of trauma-focused psychotherapy as well as holistic remedies and medications to manage symptoms.<\/p>\n

Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional\/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy treatment that was originally designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories<\/a> (Shapiro, 1989a, 1989b). Shapiro’s (2001) Adaptive Information Processing model posits that EMDR therapy facilitates the accessing and processing of traumatic memories and other adverse life experience to bring these to an adaptive resolution. After successful treatment with EMDR therapy, affective distress is relieved, negative beliefs are reformulated, and physiological arousal is reduced. During EMDR therapy the client attends to emotionally disturbing material in brief sequential doses while simultaneously focusing on an external stimulus.<\/p>\n

Post-Traumatic Stress or P.T.S. is an injury in which a person has difficulty recovering after experiencing or witnessing a terrifying event.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The condition may last months or years, with triggers that can bring back memories of the trauma accompanied by intense emotional and physical reactions.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
