Individuals become addicted
to alcohol or other drugs
(as well as to other compulsive behaviors) at key developmental
points in their lives in response to a wide array of factors.
By the time they come for treatment,
these behaviors are deeply entrenched in their being and must
be carefully assessed across the body, mind, and spirit continuum
and understood in such a way that each individual's situation
can be addressed.
Treatment begins with comprehensive
assessment and treatment planning with the input of a multi-disciplinary
team including the client, family, referring treatment providers,
staff counselors, social workers, acupuncturist, psychiatrist,
and clinical supervisors in order to determine the correct level
of care and to tailor treatment to the individual.
At The Evolution Group, Inc.
we have developed and written our own curriculum for clients
working to attain recovery from chemical dependency (alcohol,
nicotine, or other drugs.) This curriculum is called Integrity
Recovery and can span up to twelve months of treatment.
The name Integrity Recovery
is meant to indicate that there exists an underlying loss of
integrity (loss of soundness or wholeness) in individuals who
are pathologically dependent on substances or behaviors. In fact,
we could say that many individuals whether sober or not by the
time they reach adulthood have lost much of their integrity-much
of who they genuinely are lies beneath their developed personality.
Treatment at The Evolution
Group encourages physical health, nurtures mental and emotional
health, helps our clients to realize their true self so that
the outward manifestation of their lives reflect the true self,
and fosters spiritual connectedness in a non-denominational manner.
The Integrity Recovery program
includes a workbook that guides clients through ten progressive
levels of integrity. Movement from one level to the next higher
level requires a rite of passage presentation done by each individual
in the group. |
